Special Event Report

In order to earn a token for attending a special lecture or event, you must write a report that reflects on your experience with that lecture or event. Like your journals, your report should be formal in style but informal in structure. That is, it should be grammatically correct and considered, but it should not have a formal essay structure with an introduction, argument, conclusion. Like the journals, it should not be a summary, but should represent your attempt to engage intellectually with the event. It should be focused and thoughtful.

Satisfactory reports will:

  1. Show a genuine attempt to engage and struggle with the content of the event.
  2. Be at least 500 words (roughly two full pages).
  3. Be substantially free of significant spelling and grammar errors.
  4. Be turned in on time the next class after the event (not less than 24 hours after the event).
  5. Have reasonable font, size, margins so as to be readable.
  6. The first page must have your name, the date of the event, a title that includes reference to the specific event, and an accurate word count.
